Peninsular Beachfront Resort

There is a gate prize being offered by Peninsular Beachfront Resort. Every adult entering the grounds will be given a ticket.

The holiday will be drawn on Saturday night, during the rodeo and the lucky winners must be present to claim their prize.

The prize is a 3 bedroom apartment for 2 nights at Peninsular Resort, The Esplanade, Mooloolaba, valued at $720. Tickets will be drawn until a winner is present. Members will receive tickets at the time of purchasing their members tickets.

Dexter Feature Show at the Stud Cattle area.  We are hoping for record entries in the Stud cattle this year. The heifer show will be part of the Friday night program in front of the grandstand, and a special dexter section will be included in this event.

The alpacas will be back with both fleece and animal events. The alpacas are situated behind the flower pavilion.

The woodchops will be held on Sunday along with the campdraft. As we clash with a number of other shows it is difficult to secure woodchoppers, so by holding the event on Sunday we should have a number of high profile woodchoppers. Sundays program is free to the general public.

The cattle dog trials, starting at 7am on Friday are a popular event and if its dogs you like, there is the short course sheep dog trials on Saturday, near the stud cattle.

The New England Federation Sheep Show will be held in the Hartmann Pavilion on Friday, with the prime lambs section on Saturday.

The Reid Pavilion is home to cooking, needlework, handcrafts, fine arts, farm produce, jams & preserves, and photography. This year there is a $500 prize, donated by Phototechnics for “The Portfoli” which consists of a portfolio of five photos. All details are available from TeterGrafiX or dowload the schedule and look under the Photography section. The Reid Pavilion also houses commercial displays.

The ring events are as usual with over $7000 in prize money and trophies.

There will be a local rodeo Friday night as well as an affiliated NRA Rodeo on Saturday night.

For the youngsters we have the Pet Parade at 1pm Saturday in front of the Shearing complex; Mick Davis with his performing ducks both days, in front of the shearing  complex; Noah’s Farm will be back with the pig races on Saturday; the junior Showgirl event is open to young ladies 4-17 and will be judged at 4.30pm on Friday in the Shearing Complex. During this event there will be a display by local schools and a fashion parade by CM Country Outfitters; A new event for the littlies is the young ones cowboy & cowgirl competition. Age range from 0-8years and all that is required is that the children come along dressed in their best country gear and win some cash and prizes. This will be judged at 3.30pm in the main ring on Saturday, immediately following the Grand Parade.

The Official opening and announcement of the Showgirl competition winner will take place at 7.30pm on Friday night, in front of the Grandstand.

A new “members bar” will be operating in the CWA building. Entertainment will be provided for members from 6pm onward both nights, and it is hoped that this will ease the congestion at the main bar. Live bands will be performing at the main bar both nights.

The Show Ball will be held on Saturday January 30, in the Reid Pavilion.

The Ute show is on again and the final event is the Demolition Derby. This year the Calcutta for the Show Ball will be run on the derby cars so there is a lot of pressure on the drivers to get their vehicles and themselves in top order.
